BOOKS FOR BABIES

Books for Babies is an outreach program of the Concord Public Library Foundation which provides every baby born at the Family Place at Concord Hospital with a free high-quality children’s book. The Healthy Beginnings Endowment kickstarted this program during National Library Week in April 2002. It is administered by Foundation Board members and community volunteers.

Book titles over the years have included:  Good Night Moon, The Runaway Bunny, Mud, Jamberry, Ox-cart Man, Wishes for You, Make Way for Ducklings and Goodnight Gorilla. To date, more than 17,000  books have been distributed. Parents also receive tips on how to foster an early love for books by reading out loud to their child and, as they grow, by visiting and borrowing books from the library.

The current Books for Babies selection is Little Blue and Little Yellow written by Leo Lionni.
